Check Out Our Classroom!

It sure was a lot of work getting our classroom ready for the first day of school! Here is what our classroom looked like before:

And here is what it looks like now...

This table is used for small group instruction. You can also see our word wall behind it.

The yellow, blue, red, and green boxes hold our first grade journals and writing supplies. Above them are some boxes of books that make up part of our classroom library. My desk is directly behind this shelf. You might also notice our palm tree to the right of the journal boxes.

Our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom bulletin board.

All notes and important papers get put into my mailbox at the beginning of the day.

This is where we can check out books from our classroom library.

This is our carpet meeting area. You can also see a small portion of our classroom library in the green baskets on the shelf. The books are organized into various categories.

Every day, I have a morning message for the students to read when they come into the classroom in the morning. It often asks them to respond to question or add something to the bottom. (Such as, write an addition fact or write a spelling word.) Here is our message from the first day.

Here is a view of our classroom from the other side of the room.

View from the back of the room.

We created our rules together during the first week of school and posted them in the front of the classroom. The students helped illustrate each rule.

Our schedule is posted daily. We move the star down as we go through our day.

This is our bucket filling area. (Based on the book, "Have You Filled A Bucket Today?")

When we are kind to others we are "filling their bucket".
